I started making jewelry when I was 10 years old, when my parents brought me a shoe box full of broken jewelry and beads. I knew nothing of jewelry except how to wear it. Through trial and error I learned about tool marks and the specialty tools that are required to make jewelry. I am always adding new tools to the list of tools I already have.  I started designing my own jewelry when I realized that most jewelry is made in mass. I don’t want to walk into some kind of function and see 3 or 4 of the same earrings or necklaces on other people, I want to have unique and one of a kind jewelry, something that people notice. I started making pearl pieces when a dear friend of mine asked for a pearl necklace, “something that is not my grandmothers pearls”, So she could wear pearls without worrying about losing her family heirloom.
